Prior to forming Outfitter Ventures, Val co-founded Vector Capital and now acts as Senior Advisor to the Firm. At Vector, Val concentrated on investments in enterprise software and e-commerce. Val continues to work closely with Niku Corporation, the leader in IT management and governance solutions, and ProcessClaims, the leader in claims management solutions for insurance carriers. Before Vector, Val was a founding general partner of Benchmark Capital, a leading e-commerce startup venture capital firm best known for its early stage investments in eBay and Arriba. At Benchmark, Val was responsible for investments in PictureVision, a web photography company sold to Kodak, and BlueCoat Systems, an internet infrastructure appliance company. Val also has Software Company operating experience, having served as the VP of Marketing of Tesseract Corporation, a Software Magazine 100 enterprise software company. Val led the purchase of Tesseract from Prudential Insurance and was instrumental in its turnaround and sale to Ceridian Corporation one year later. Val began his investment career at the Cypress Fund, was an investment professional at Feibusch & Co., and worked as a management consultant at Bain & Co.<\/p>\n
