Alexis V. Lukianov is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of NuVasive\u00c2\u00ae, Inc., a medical device company in San Diego, Calif. Since 1999, Mr. Lukianov has led a venture-backed startup to the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s initial public offering in 2004. Today, NuVasive is the fourth largest spine company in the world and regarded as the leader in minimally disruptive surgical products having changed major spine surgery to outpatient procedures. The company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s innovative products and pioneering spine surgery techniques have catapulted the startup into an industry leader. Mr. Lukianov takes special pride in the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s distinct performance culture that focuses on Speed of Innovation\u00c2\u00ae- creating a sustainable competitive edge in the industry. Mr. Lukianov has over 30 years of experience in the orthopaedic industry, with nearly 25 years in senior management. Prior to joining NuVasive, he was a founder, and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, of BackCare Group, Inc. Mr. Lukianov also held executive positions with Medtronic Sofamor Danek, including President of US. Additionally, he directed a business unit at Smith & Nephew Orthopaedics and managed an orthopaedic joint venture between Stryker Corporation and Meadox Medical. Mr. Lukianov attended Rutgers University and served in the U.S. Navy. He currently serves on the board and the executive committee of Volcano Corporation.
