Vel Kanniappan is the Senior Vice President – Finance, responsible for all global finance functions at NIUM. Vel Kanniappan is with UiPath as Vice President – Global Business & Finance Operations, responsible for the Commercial finance organization for the Asia Pacific, and is also a vital member of the global finance organization. Vel joined Tekion in 2017 at a very early stage when the organization had 20 employees. Being the only qualified finance professional in the organization, he was responsible for managing the global finance and operations (Global Facilities, Procurement, IT Infrastructure, SOC Certifications, Payroll, Compliances, etc.) in addition to product design and management. He was responsible for conceptualizing and building the finance modules for Tekion’s product offering, including designing wireframes and UX. He was involved in three rounds of funding and actively interacted with the investors during the funding and periodical reporting, which included Index Ventures, Storm Ventures, Airbus Ventures, General Motors, BMW i Ventures, Alliance Ventures, and few car dealerships in the Bay Area. Vel joined EMC Corporation in 2002. In a career spanning 15 years with EMC and its group companies, which included 9 years at VMware, Vel managed the Controllership for the Asia Pacific and also managed the global finance organization, which included an end to end ownership for Procure to Pay, T&E, General Ledger Accounting, Global Payroll (Except US), Accounts Receivable (Collections targets of close to $ 3 B per quarter). Vel was also the first employee of EMC and VMware in India and was responsible for growing their operations to 10,000& employees in India. Vel managed a global team, including a shared services team of 250& professionals. By qualification, Vel is a Certified Public Accountant from Arizona State-USA, Certified Management Accountant-USA, Certified Internal Auditor-USA, Project Management Professional-USA, He is also a Chartered Accountant-India, Cost & Management Accountant-India, Company Secretary-India, Bachelor of Law-India, Bachelor of Commerce-India.
