Rodrigo is a serial entrepreneur and investor, having founded or co-founded 5 companies. Currently, he is a Founding Partner at Expon Capital (HQ in Luxembourg) and President at Sepulveda Capital (HQ in Paris), focused on impact investing at growth-stage. He’s invested early in 3 unicorns (GetAround : raised a recent round at $1.5b with Softbank, Glovo : acquired by Delivery Hero for €2.6b, Spire : went public via a SPAC at $1.6b), and expects at least 4 more from his current portfolios. After earning his Computer Science Engineering degree at EPITA in Paris, France in Systems – Networks – Security, he started his career working with industrial, banking, retail and media clients for two large consultancies co-creating the Internet security, Internet strategy and online marketplaces practices. In the following 10 years, Rodrigo has also led a number of digital strategy assignments as a free-lance consultant for public multi-billion revenue companies working closely with both Boards and CEOs. He also gained operational experience at large technology companies such as Intel, Novell and AOL. He became an entrepreneur after getting after getting two MBAs (from the Sorbonne University, and later at INSEAD with an exchange term at The Wharton School). He's also a graduate of the Singularity University executive program (Summer 2015), and of the INSEAD International Directors Programme (IDP28). In 2002, he co-founded and later ran Glowria, a video-rental and VOD service, that quickly became #1 in France and #2 in Germany. In 2005, he also co-founded and ran vpod.tv, an award-winning multi-media content management software aimed at Fortune 500, with operations in France and Spain. Both had significant venture-capital financing and were acquired. Both were operated via a boutique investment firm RISC Partners that he had co-founded. In 2009, he became an active business angel and startup mentor (see angel.co/rodrigo) with 15 investments, via his holding company, Sepulveda Capital. In 2015 he co-founded Expon Capital, a multi-stage global venture capital firm based in Luxembourg with over $100m under management, with over 27 investments since launch (see http://www.exponcapital.com/portfolio). His current areas of interest as an investor include cybersecurity, Internet infrastructure, and impact investing. He is a frequent speaker at events worldwide, a regular jury member at startup competitions and occasional lecturer in top graduate schools. Rodrigo has also participated in over 300 podcasts in the past 10 years (such as “French Connection” at LCI Radio, “On Refait Le Mac”), always commenting on the business side of technology. In his spare time, Rodrigo is an avid traveler, B&W photographer, genealogist, wine enthusiast (WSET Diploma in 2019) and enjoys jazz, opera, fine dining, biking and snowboarding. Rodrigo is a dual Chilean and French national, fluent in French, English and Spanish, and has working knowledge of German, Italian and Thai.
