Hussam is the President and co-founder of Jabbar Internet Group (Jabbar.com), one of the leaders in the consumer e-commerce sector in the Arab World, and a major player in the internet sector in general. Having been established in late 2009, just after the acquisition of Maktoob.com by Yahoo, Jabbar built up an impressive portfolio of online brands, all leaders in their respective niches, and all-together generating the largest online consumer ecommerce volumes in the region. Hussam was the co-founder of Maktoob.com Inc. He holds a Bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in the USA. He had several years of experience in technology consulting and systems development with Andersen Consulting, and then with Business Optimization Consultants which he co-founded in 1994 in Amman, which eventually merged into Maktoob.com Inc. in 2000. He led the technology and product development initiatives at Maktoob.com initially and then moved to lead the complete operations and strategy with his co-founder, until the Yahoo acquisition of Maktoob.com in 2009, after which he spent a year heading Middle East strategy and strategic partnerships for Yahoo!Maktoob. Hussam was awarded the 'King Hussein Medal for Distinguished Performance of the First Order' in 2009 by HM King Abdullah II. Hussam was also a co-founder of Oasis500, the MENA region's premier early stage and seed investment program for Internet, Digital and Mobile ventures, and also served on its board. Hussam is also a member of the YPO.
