Urs has been in venture capital and private equity for more than 20 years, focusing on primary and secondary growth capital investments in mature European software technology companies. He’s a passionate secondary and series A/B investor and non-executive director in European FinTech, enterprise software and SaaS companies, cooperating closely with extraordinary founders, entrepreneurs, management teams and owners to rapidly transform their businesses into sustainable leaders and winners in their field. Over the last 20 years, Urs has achieved consistent, top quartile returns on his investments. He has a particular interest in financial technologies, governance, risk & compliance (GRC), content management, marketing automation, digital commerce, big data, artificial intelligence (AI), as well as infrastructure and security software, incl. enabling technologies. Targeted business models range from traditional perpetual and term software license to modern internet, cloud, Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) subscription models. Urs is a proven expert and specialist in sourcing, analyzing, assessing, valuing, financing, developing, transforming and selling privately-held, bootstrapped, founder-led software companies to strategic buyers and to the public (IPO), as well as running accompanying processes. The same goes for setting-up, running and subsequently winding down international tax transparent fund structures for institutional investors, family offices and HNWI’s, incl. fulfilling reporting and compliance requirements consistently over a long period of time. Urs is founder/owner of fronttrail Equity Partners, Wollerau and a former founder of ViewPoint Capital Partners in Frankfurt/Zurich and investment banker of Vontobel in Zurich. He graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich (HWZ) and served as a platoon leader with the Swiss Mountain Troopers. He is fluent in German, English and French.
