Ross J. Beaty has been the Executive Chairman at Alterra Power Corp. since January 22, 2008. Mr. Beaty served as Chief Executive Officer of Alterra Power Corp. (Magma Energy Corp.) from January 22, 2008 to September 2011.He Founded Lumina Capital Limited Partnership. He has more than 37 years of experience in the international minerals industry. He founded Pan American Silver Corp. in 1994 and served as its Chief Executive Officer until May 11, 2004. He served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Equinox Resources Ltd. from May 1985 to April 1994 and Da Capo Resources Ltd. from April 1994 to September 1996. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Copper Corp. from May 9, 2005 to March 21, 2006. Mr. Beaty has worked in more than 50 countries during his career. He has also founded and divested a number of other public mineral resource companies since 1985, including Northern Peru Copper and Global Copper Corp. He has been the Non-Executive Chairman of Pan American Silver Corp. since April 30, 2007. He serves as the Chairman of Lumina Resources Corp., HS Orka hf. and Global Copper Corp. He served as the Chairman of Northern Peru Copper Corp. since August 2006. He served as Co-Chairman of Western Copper and Gold Corporation from November 30, 2006 to September 2009. He served as the Chairman of Regalito Copper Corp. He served as an Executive Chairman of Pan American Silver Corp., since April 1994. He served as Vice Chairman of Vista Gold Corp. He has been a Director of Global Copper Corp. since May 9, 2005, Lumina Copper Corp. since May 23, 2003, Lumina Resources Corp. since May 9, 2005 and Pan American Silver Corp., since September 30, 1988. He served as a Director of Regalito Copper Corp. from May 23, 2003 to May 2006. He served as a Director of Sutton Resources Ltd. He served as Director of Northern Peru Copper Corp., since August 9, 2006. He served as the President of the Silver Institute in Washington, D.C. He is a recipient of Canadian Institute's Past President's Memorial Medal. In 2007, Mr. Beaty received the Association of Mineral Exploration of B.C.'s Colin Spence Award for excellence in global mineral exploration and in 2008 the Mining Person of the Year award from the Mining Association of B.C. and the Ernst & Young, Natural Resources Entrepreneur of the Year award. He is a Geologist and resource company entrepreneur. He served as a Director of Western Copper and Gold Corporation from November 30, 2006 to September 2009. He is a Fellow of the Geological Association of Canada and the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. In 1997, he has a P. Geo from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia. He speaks English, French and Spanish, as well as some Russian, German and Italian. Mr. Beaty received a Law degree (LLB) from the University of British Columbia in 1979; a M.S. in Geology and Mineral Exploration from Royal School of Mines at the University of London in 1975; and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a B.S. in Geology in 1974.
