He began his career at Deloitte within the retail and consumer products division, where he qualified as a chartered accountant. After four years, Matt joined Lehman Brothers to be an equity analyst, where he was made Head of European Retail at the age of 28. Matt was headhunted to lead JP Morgan’s European retail franchise in Equities. During his time in the City, Matt has advised, established relationships with and analysed retailers such as Tesco, Wal-Mart, Net-A-Porter, Metro, Kingfisher, Carrefour, Casino, Ahold, ASOS, Marks & Spencer, Migros, Biedronka, Jeronimo Martins, Delhaize, CBD, Magnit, DIA, AlexandAlexa.com and Delticom. In 2007 Matt co-founded True Capital and TrueStart with a view to creating an investment management firm with a sector specialist investment approach, targeting businesses with business models fit for the future of the retail and consumer industries. Matt sits on the board of fast growing retailers such as Ribble Cycles, The Cotswold Company and Tyres on the Drive.com.
